Ajay Devgn is an Indian actor, film director and producer. He was born on April 2, 1969 in New Delhi, India. He has appeared in over a hundred Hindi films.
Devgn has won numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards. In 2016, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour of the country.
Devgn began his professional career with Phool Aur Kaante in 1991. He then rose to prominence as an action hero starring in successful films such as Jigar (1992), Sangram (1993), Dilwale (1994), and Diljale (1996). He went on to give critically acclaimed performances in Zakhm (1998), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Company (2002), Deewangee (2002), and The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002).

He again collaborated with Shetty for the role of an upright police officer in the action drama Singham (2011).
Ajay Devgn achieved further success with roles in the action comedies Bol Bachchan and Son of Sardaar, the latter of which he also produced. He appeared as a protective father in Nishikant Kamat’s successful suspense thriller Drishyam (2015), before a setback began when his directorial, production and next starrer Shivaay (2016) flopped at box office.
The fluctuations ended in 2017, when after giving another underperformer Baadshaho, Devgn gained blockbuster success by reuniting with Shetty for the fifth installment of his iconic and comical Golmaal franchise named Golmaal Again, his first film that entered the 200 Crore Club in Indian net collection.
The series of critically and commercially hit films in his career continued with Raj Kumar Gupta’s 2018 drama Raid, Indra Kumar’s 2019 adventure comedy Total Dhamaal, Akiv Ali’s 2019 rom-com De De Pyaar De and Om Raut’s 2020 period actioner Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The lattermost emerged as Devgn’s highest-grossing release. In 2021, Ajay starred in Sooryavanshi and Bhuj: The Pride of India.
Devgn’s upcoming projects include the crime drama Gangubai Kathiawadi, and leading roles in the sports film Maidaan, his own directorial Mayday, a slice-of-life comedy Thank God, a Hindi remake of 2019 Tamil thriller Kaithi, the comedy Golmaal 5, the periodic biopic Chanakya, the sequel Raid 2, the rom-com De De Pyaar De 2 and the cop film Singham 3.
He will also make his Tollywood debut with SS Rajamouli’s Pan India patriotic actioner RRR and collaborate with Yash Raj Films on a superhero movie directed by Shiv Rawail and co-starring Ahaan Pandey.
