Prasthanam is a upcoming Indian Hindi language political action film directed by Deva Katta. The film is produced by Maanayata Dutt under her own banner Sanjay S Dutt Productions. The film stars ensemble cast of Sanjay Dutt, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, Chunky Pandey, Ali Fazal, Satyajeet Dubey, and Amyra Dastur.
After the success of Kabir Singh, Bollywood is all set to witness yet another remake of a Telugu film in Hindi. Prasthanam, the remake of the political action drama film by the same name, written and directed by Deva Katta, stars Sanjay Dutt and Ali Fazal. The Telugu film was well received and the director is seeking to achieve the same success in Bollywood by helming the Hindi remake himself.
Prasthanam was released on Dutt’s 60th birthday on Monday. The minute-long clip showed Dutt in a menacing, powerful avatar, toting guns, leading a political party. The teaser opens with references to the Ramayan and Mahabharat, hinting at an impending ‘war for legacy’.The film is set to release on 20 Sep 2019.
The film, which is a remake of the Telugu classic of the same name, also stars Ali Fazal, Chunky Panday, Jackie Shroff in pivotal roles.The trailer of the film shows Sanjay Dutt fighting a group of people and catapulting into a successful politician named Baldev Pratap Singh. The trailer then shows Sanjay’s bond with Ali Fazal and how he wants Ali to succeed him as a politician.
When the director narrated the script Manisha Koirala accepted the film.The director of the film further added, “The kind of respect and camaraderie that they (Dutt and Manisha) share has added to the film and on screen it is magical to see it”. When Jackie Shroff joined the project, the director said it’s a dream come true for him. Sooraj Pancholi was chosen to play in the lead role was later replaced by Ali Fazal, due to his busy schedule for his next film.
