Playing with Fire is an upcoming 2019 American comedy film directed by Andy Fickman from a screenplay by Dan Ewen and Matt Lieberman. The film stars John Cena, Keegan Michael Key, John Leguizamo, Brianna Hildebrand, Dennis Haysbert, and Judy Greer.

John Cena plays an elite firefighter turned bumbling babysitter in the trailer for Paramount’s upcoming family comedy, Playing with Fire. Much like Dwayne Johnson and Dave Bautista before him, Cena has recently managed to segue from a long professional wrestling career into a successful run as a movie and TV actor. And while he’s continued to make his name as an action star of late, Cena has also demonstrated a real knack for physical comedy with his turns in hits like Trainwreck and Blockers.

Playing with Fire is scheduled to be released on 8 November 2019.

The family comedy revolves around a group of rugged wildfire fighters who meet their match when they rescue a trio of rambunctious children.Todd Garner and Sean Robins of Broken Road Productions are on board to produce “Playing With Fire.” Paramount Players bought the spec script from Dan Ewen this past February and hired Matt Lieberman to pen a rewrite. Paramount executive VP Matt Dines is overseeing for the studio.

Cena’s latest big-screen role was alongside Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz in the Universal comedy “Blockers,” which ended its theatrical run with $94 million worldwide. Cena was recently tapped by fellow WWE alum Dwayne Johnson to star in “The Janson Directive.”In December, he is appearing in “Bumblebee,” the sixth installment in Paramount’s “Transformers” franchise. Cena will also voice a character in Universal’s fantasy adventure “The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle” co-starring Robert Downey Jr. and Selena Gomez.

He’ll once again put those skills to work on this fall’s Playing with Fire, a movie that pairs him up with Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo (When They See Us), and his fellow wrestler-turned actor Tyler Mane (X-Men). The four star in the film as a team of elite firefighters who’re forced to babysit three kids  including, Deadpool’s Brianna Hildebrand – after they rescue them from a forest fire, but are unable to locate their parents. It doesn’t open until November, but Paramount has decided to go ahead and get the ball rolling on the movie’s marketing this week.
