Siddharth Dhananjay is an actor and a rapper. He was born in Thiruvananthapuram. When he was three years old, he moved with his parents to Jakarta, and that’s where he spent his childhood. He attended Grinnell University, Iowa, where he graduated in liberal arts. In the university Dhananjay with two friends started parodies and hilarious rap songs. When he was studying philosophy and economics, there was a student film festival at Grinnell. He with his friends Luke, Matt and decided to make their own funny video and parody of Kent Jones’s Don’t Mind with their own lyrics. It was a low-budget process but the results were great. He attended music classes in school, but with the Dhananjay the First videos, they were just trying to see how far they could push the experiment. The video was a hit. Siddharth Dhananjay received an email in 2014 from the producer of Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) who had seen his rap videos, asked him to audition for the movie Patti Cake$. He talked about that invitation: “They reached out to me and they were like, Would you try to be part of this movie? And I was like, Hell yeah, let’s do it”. Patti Cake$ is an american drama film. The story of the film revolves around Patricia Dumbo Dombrowski, a woman from Bergen County, New Jersey, who seeks fortune and fame as a rapper. She had to face obstacles including discouragement from people close to her as well as encouragement from others. Siddharth Dhananjay’s other acting credits include Undone, A Name without a place, The Real Bros of Simi Valley and Bloodshot.
