Maura Lynn Tierney was born on 3rd February 1965. She is a film and TV actress. She has appeared in different television series and films. She is seen in supporting roles such as Lisa Miller on the sitcom NewsRadio Primal Fear, Liar Liar, an American biographical drama film Beautiful Boy and American drama film The Report. She also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress Series.
Her Father, Joseph M. Tierney was a Politician. Her mother, Pat Tierney was a Real Estate Broker.
Maura Tierney attended Notre-Dame Academy in Hingham, Massachusetts. She studied drama at NYC (New York city) University where she performed in various university plays. Her major was in Dance and Drama. She also received her BFA degree in Theater Studies.
After that she moved to Los Angeles in 1987 to pursue her acting career.
She started her career In 1988, she made her debut with a TV show comedy-drama series. She has appeared in different hit films, such as The Thin Pink Line, Instinct, Insomnia and Welcome to Mooseport.
She has received the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress Series, Miniseries or Television Film in 2016. Her work was much appreciated and earned her several award nominations, including one Emmy nomination and three Prism Award nominations.

Maura was married to Actor, Director Billy Morrisette in February, 1993. They met in 1988 after they were fired from the television sitcom series The Ralph Macchio Project. They separated in March 2006 and then divorced in July, 2006, due to irreconcilable differences.
They did not have any children. Now She is living a single life and busy with her work.
In July of 2009, Maura underwent surgery to remove tumor from her breast. She later had a breast mastectomy.
