Biography

Guy Edward Pearce is a British-Australian actor, singer, songwriter, and musician.

He was born on October 5, 1967, in Ely, Cambridgeshire, UK.  His mother’s Margaret Anne is an English while his father was born in Auckland, New Zealand, to English and Scottish parents. He has one older sister, Tracy.

Pearce and his family traveled to Geelong, Victoria, Australia for two years, after his father was offered the position of Chief test pilot for the Australian Government. He was three years old at that time.

Guy’s father died 5 years later in an aircraft test flight, leaving his mother, a schoolteacher, to care for him and his sister.

Pearce attended Geelong College, and he was a member of the Geelong Society of Dramatic Arts (GSODA). He was also a competitive amateur bodybuilder, leading to the title of Junior Mr. Victoria in 2016. He lived in Box Hill North when he transitioned to television and cast in the Australian soap opera Neighbours, in 1985.

Guy Pearce made his first major film breakthrough with his role in The Adventures of Priscilla and Queen of the Desert in 1994. Since then, he has appeared in US productions including L.A. Confidential, Rules of Engagement, Ravenous, Memento, The Count of Monte Cristo, and The Time Machine.

Pearce continued to appear in Australian films, such as The Hard Word and The Proposition.

Some other of his film credits include The Christmas Carol, Domino, Mary Queen of Scots, Jack Irish, Spinning Man, The Catcher Was a Spy, Swinging Safari and Bloodshot.

Pearce married his childhood sweetheart, Kate Mestitz, in March 1997. Kate is a psychologist. They ended their marriage after 18 years in October 2015. Pearce started dating Dutch actress, Carice van Houten and the couple had their first child in August 2016.

Guy is a football fan and supports the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League. Pearce has also done media work including a documentary narration. He supports a number of organizations for many causes such as animal rights and protecting the Earth’s ecology.
