Daniel Wroughton Craig is an English actor.

Craig was born (March 2, 1968) in Chester, Cheshire, England. His father, Timothy John Wroughton Craig was a merchant seaman turned steel erector, and then became landlord of two Cheshire pubs the Ring o’ Bells in Frodsham and the Boot Inn in Tarporley.

His mother’s name was Carol Olivia who was an art teacher. Besides English Craig is of Welsh, Scottish, and Irish, ancestry as well. His parents separated in 1972, and he was raised by his mother with his older sister, Lea.

He developed an interest in acting from a young age. He got inspiration by visiting Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre. Craig started acting at the age of six in his school plays and performed in Oliver, Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella.

Live and Let Die (1973) was the first James Bond movie that young Daniel Craig saw with his father which got his attention. Craig was a good athlete and rugby player.

At the age of 16, Craig left Hilbre High School for an audition at NYT’s (National Youth Theatre) troupe on their tour and was accepted and moved down to London. There he debuted his stage career in Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida, starring as Agamemnon.

Craig struggled as an actor and toiled in restaurant kitchens while working with NYT on tours from Valencia, Spain, and to Moscow, Russia.

He failed many times at auditions but at last, his persistence paid off, and in 1988, he joined the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He graduated after a three-year course in 1991.

Craig debuted his film career in The Power of One (1992). He got international fame playing supporting roles in Road to Perdition (2002) and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001).

Craig was the sixth one to play James Bond in the series, starting from its 21st installment, Casino Royale.

In the opinion of four of the past James bond series actors: Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan, Craig is a good choice for the Character.

He was nominated for the BAFTA award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Casino Royale.

He won the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for the best actor in action movie, for Skyfall (2012).

Craig married Scottish actress Fiona Loudon in 1992 and they have a daughter, Ella Craig born in 1992. The got divorced in 1994.  Craig became engaged with film producer Satsuki Mitchell in 2005 but they separated in 2010.

Craig dated his Dream House‘s co-star, Rachel Weisz from December 2010. They got married in New York City on 22 June 2011 in a private ceremony consists of only four guests including his daughter Ella and Weisz’s son. They had their first child, a daughter on September 1, 2018.

He is a follower of football club Liverpool FC, and a rugby fan.
