Clarke Peters was born on 7th April 1952, in New Jersey. His birth name is Peter Clarke. He is an actor, singer, writer, and director. He graduated in 1970 from Dwight Morrow High School in New Jersey. He started his career when he was only 14 years old with serious ambitions to work in the theater. n 1973, Peters moved to London. While in London, he formed a soul band, The Majestics, and worked as a backup singer. However, music was not his main ambition, and he preferred to work in theater. He is famous for his roles as detective Lester Freamon. He had a supporting role in Television series Jonathan Creek, The Corner, Waking the Dead, Damages and Covert Affairs. His big-screen performances include Freedomland, Silver Dream Racer, Notting Hill, Freedomland, The Poker House, Endgame, Searching for Sonny, Missouri and recent one, Harriet. Peters has had five children from three relationships. He and his first wife, Janine Martyne, who sang with him on recordings, had two children: daughter China Clarke, an architect, and son Peter Clarke, a tattoo artist. After then he made relationship with Joanna Jacobs. They have two sons: Joe Jacobs, an actor, and Guppy, who died of a kidney tumor. He has a son, Max, with his second wife, Penny. Max played the young Michael Jackson in the West End’s production of musical, Thriller – Live. Peters splits his time between house in the Charles Village section of Baltimore, and in London, where with his wife Penny and son Max. He is a follower of the Brahma Kumaris, ideology.
